The Ramsgate Hovercraft at Pie Factory Margate

Surrounded by the entrancing and sometimes disturbing work of Margot Bandola at Pie Factory Margate on Friday, The Ramsgate Hovercraft performed two extended ambient electronic improvisations. The band’s musical response to the environment was assisted by an appreciative crowd and several dogs who occasionally voiced their approval. The experience could only have been enhanced had a mysterious and beautiful dancer emerged to perform a magical improvised dance as the band played. Which was exactly what happened. It felt like a blessing.

Pie Factory Margate is currently hosting Found Out, Caught and Tried, an inspiring exhibition of paintings by Margot Bandola including many new works. And this Friday, 27th March, The Ramsgate Hovercraft will be there playing an extended ambient improvisation between 6pm and 8:30pm. Join us on Friday to enjoy art and music in a great venue.

Record Collector magazine loves The Hovercraft’s Cinéma Vérité

Record Collector magazine has given four stars to The Ramsgate Hovercraft’s new album Cinéma Vérité in a review in the current edition, describing it as “a sumptuous feast that not only soundtracks the deepest layers of the human condition, but serves as a wonderful reminder that music can take you places you’d never even dared imagine”. Last Saturday The Ramsgate Hovercraft headlined at Ramsgate Music Hall celebrating the launch of the new album Cinéma Vérité. Outstanding support was provided by Alberteen and Ray Gun. On stage the band were privileged to be joined by Paula Frost (of Ray Gun) on drums and Claire Dugué on hurdy-gurdy. Plenty of sound and fury and everyone had a ball. The Hovercraft’s set was lit by an amazing psychedelic light show provided by Paul Naudin and the terrific photos below were taken by Dik Ng.

You can find it on Spotify, Amazon and other online music retail sites. The digital edition contains all the same tracks as the physical package, which you can still purchase online from Bandcamp or from selected east Kent record shops.
