The Hovercraft has been hard at work getting the new album ready for its February release and so far everything is on track. More details to follow but it will involve exciting new artwork and of course more bewildering and beguiling music than the human mind can comfortably comprehend. There will be a launch event too – watch out for more details on that soon. In the meantime, enjoy The Red Desertshore.
The Ramsgate Hovercraft – new album expected February
The Hovercraft is close to completing recording for the follow-up album to Arcane Empire. A couple of the new tracks were debuted in August when the band played Ramsgate Music Hall: Gala, which features in this video of the live performance, and The Blue Cloak of Deceit Blues which closed the set. We’ve been very busy jamming, editing and mixing and the last few months have been really successful in terms of producing a quantity of new music. We were recently joined in the studio by friend of the Hovercraft and talented hurdy-gurdy maker and player Claire Dugué who laid down some stirring and inventive sounds for the album. So pretty soon we’ll be finalizing the mixes, mastering and putting them together with artwork to send off to the manufacturers – we’ll keep you posted and maybe share a few samples of what to expect.
Guardian video uses music by The Ramsgate Hovercraft
Today the Guardian web site launched a series of four short videos called Britain’s in trouble. The first, Ukip’s rise in the east of England: a world turned upside down is a very good, if rather bleak, film with Guardian journalist John Harris talking to ordinary people in deprived and neglected areas where UKIP is particularly popular. Our particular interest is that John Harris is also an experienced and respected music journalist, and having come across The Ramsgate Hovercraft’s album Arcane Empire while working on the film in Thanet chose to use the title track for incidental music. We are very pleased to be associated with it. Watch the video here.

Latest Ramsgate Hovercraft gig at Ramsgate Music Hall
Another amazing night at Ramsgate Music Hall with The Ramsgate Hovercraft AND Acid Mothers Temple on the bill. The Hovercraft’s set included new material played in public for the first time, and was received enthusiastically by the capacity crowd. Acid Mothers Temple wowed the crowd with an hour and a half of the full-on psychedelic rock they’re justly famous for. Afterwards we greeted old friends, made new ones and sold albums. It’s a great venue for bands and audiences.
